Eastside Republican Club announces student awardees

The Eastside Republican Club today announced the winners of its 2012 Scholarship Essay Program.

The Eastside Republican Club today announced the winners of its 2012 Scholarship Essay Program. They are: $1000 Winner: Corbin Poppe, Auburn, a student at Auburn Mountainview High School, planning to attend Washington State University; $750 Winner: Lia Ludlam, Bellevue, a student at Sammamish High School, planning to attend Brigham Young University; $375 Winner: Marina Giloi, Redmond, a student at Claremont McKenna College; and $375 Winner: Patrick Leake, Sammamish, a student at the University of Washington.

Applicants for the scholarship were required to submit an essay up to 500 words on the topic “Why do free markets work? What should the President do to spur economic growth?”. The winning essays can be found at http://www.eastsiderepublicanclub.org/scholarship.htm.

Scholarships will be awarded this evening, Tuesday, May 1, at the Club’s monthly meeting in Redmond, Wash.
