Eastside Fire and Rescue take over intersections for good cause

Last Friday, members of Eastside Fire and Rescue stood at street corners and intersections, collecting donations for Fill the Boot, a program benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Last Friday, members of Eastside Fire and Rescue stood at street corners and intersections, collecting donations for Fill the Boot, a program benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

More than 27 volunteer Fire Fighters collected $18,000 in donations from generous passers-by and motorists for MDA. This year’s kick-off for Fill the Boot raised $3,000 more than last year’s first-day total of $15,000. Fire Fighters have filled the boot for MDA since 1954, raising more than $167,000,000.

Eastside Fire and Rescue will hit the streets again for their next Fill the Boot fundraiser on August 1, at the intersection of SR 202 & Snoqualmie Parkway.

Additional Fill the Boot locations will take place on Sept. 11 at the following intersections:

-Front & Sunset in Issaquah

-Bendigo & Mt. Si in North Bend

-NE 8th St. & 228th Avenue SE in Sammamish.
