Earth-friendly gardening seminar set at First United Methodist Church

An earth-friendly gardening seminar and plant exchange will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at First United Methodist Church in Bellevue.

Laura Sweany of Terra Flora Farm will explain Permaculture, a system of land design using existing natural principles to create productive, sustainable gardens that are more bountiful, beautiful and low maintenance.

Sue Hartman from the Lawn and Garden Hotline will discuss safe and healthy edible gardening, including evaluating the health of your soil and choosing toxic free materials for building raised beds.

The event also will include informational displays, children’s activities, door prizes and refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring house or garden plants or seeds to exchange.

The event is free and open to the public. The church is located at 1934 108th Ave. NE.
