Driver in fatal I-405 car wreck pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide

Samuel C. Sampson was arraigned Tuesday morning and pled not guilty to charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and reckless driving for a September 12 collision on I-405 in Bellevue that killed 22-year-old Ian Riley Beckford. Sampson was allegedly weaving around traffic and driving at speeds exceeding 120 mph when his car slammed into Beckford’s. The defendant’s wife, who was a passenger in Sampson’s car, was also injured in the collision.

Sampson, 27, remains in jail with bail set at $1 million. A case setting hearing is scheduled for October 14.
