The Puget Sound Blood Center needs donors as the bad weather has led to a number of canceled blood drives.

Over the past several days, the blood center has cancelled over 15 blood drives, lost over 1000 blood donations and lost over 50 platelet donations.

More inclement weather will add to the loss of donations, likely meaning about 25 percent fewer donations than the center would typically expect.

It takes more than 900 donor registrations every day to maintain an operational blood supply in Western Washington.

Appointments to give blood can be scheduled by calling

1-800-398-7888. Walk-ins are also welcome.
