Donations needed for toy and food drive at Crossroads

Just since summer, staff at Bellevue’s Crossroads Mini City Hall has seen the demand for temporary food supplies double. In addition, people are lining up to apply for utility tax rebates and there has been a sharp increase in the number of inquiries about energy assistance.

This increased demand for assistance is causing staff at Crossroads Community Center to worry that Santa will need more help from the community than ever to help serve the more than 1,500 Bellevue families expected at the annual holiday party in December.

Santa needs new, unwrapped toys, books, games, gift certificates and sports equipment for young people of all ages (infants through teens) or would appreciate monetary donations so his elves can purchase needed items.

Santa also is looking for food donations to help families through the holiday months.

To help, people can drop off unwrapped toys, cash or non-perishable food now through Dec. 13 at Crossroads Community Center, 16000 N.E. 10th St. Crossroads Community Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
