Nighttime drivers planning to use State Route 520 need to take alternate routes across and around Lake Washington as crews working for WSDOT continue to install tolling equipment on the SR 520 bridge.

Crews will close all eastbound lanes of SR 520, between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue NE in Medina, tonight and Saturday night. Both nights the ramps from both directions of I-5 to eastbound SR 520 will close at 11 p.m. and the roadway will close at 11:59 p.m. The roadway and ramps will reopen by 7 a.m. the following morning.

Crews will close all eastbound lanes from Montlake Boulevard in Seattle to 92nd Avenue NE in Medina three nights next week, Jan. 24-26. The bridge closes at 11:59 p.m. each night and reopens by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

On Thursday night, Jan. 27, crews switch to the westbound direction, closing all the westbound lanes from 92nd Ave NE in Medina to Montlake Boulevard in Seattle. The bridge closes at 11:59 p.m. each night and reopens by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

Crews will also perform this closure on Friday and Saturday nights, Jan. 28-29 beginning at 11:59 p.m. both nights. The roadway will reopen by 7 a.m. on Saturday morning and 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

During these closures, crews will hang roadway signs and equipment for the upcoming tolling of the SR 520 bridge in spring 2011. Drivers can expect one direction of the bridge to be closed Monday through Saturday nights until early February.
