U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, noting that the economy added 146,000 jobs and the unemployment rate fell to 7.7 percent in November, called on both Democrats and Republicans to deal with the “fiscal cliff” facing the nation.

DelBene, of Medina, who represents the state’s 1st Congressional District, said the numbers from the Department of Labor show “our economy is moving in the right direction,” but added the recovery “is very fragile right now and there’s more to do.:

DelBene said that failure to address the “fiscal cliff,” an end-of-the-year event that would see taxes rise along with large cuts in spending, would “hurt millions of families across the nation in the form of higher taxes and greater financial uncertainty for small businesses.” It critical that we take action now to vote on the extension of the middle class tax cuts, which will help working families.”
