Seventh-grade girls at Eastside Christian School in Bellevue will observe 24 hours of silence on Monday, June 2, to raise awareness of the school girls from Nigeria.

The group, which formed as “Skipping Stones” (skipping stones make waves of change) did 30 hours of silence last year to coincide with World Vision’s 30-hour fast to “speak out” against child trafficking. They raised over $5,000 and donated that money to World Vision to help fight trafficking.

In a message this year about their observance, their statement reads: “We are silent today (June 2, 2014) because on April 19, 276 girls were kidnapped from their school in Nigeria. “We want to speak out against this. We are silent for the 219 girls who are still missing. “Please pray for these 219 girls and pray that this will never happen again.”
