Customers at the Starbucks on Northeast 8th Street were given an extra shot of energy when a car crashed through the store’s front windows Wednesday morning.

An elderly woman was driving along Northeast 8th Street at 110th Avenue Northeast when she ran over the curb and the front of her car crashed through the storefront, according to the Bellevue Police Department. Police are still investigating why she crashed into the Starbucks, but do not believe it is because of any medical issues or substance abuse.

“We don’t believe it’s a medical issue, we believe it’s a confusion and age issue,” police spokesperson Seth Tyler told the Reporter.

One customer sitting in an armchair in front of the windows narrowly avoided injury when the black sedan came to a stop inches from her head. No one else was injured in the crash.
