Bellevue councilmembers on Monday approved a compensation program for newly appointed City Manager Brad Miyake, who officially accepted the position in April after performing those responsibilities for nearly a year.

Miyake, who has been serving in the position in the interim since Steve Sarkozy resigned as city manager last May, was one of the four finalists for the position interviewed by council in April. Under the approved compensation program, Miyake will make $225,000 annually and receive a $9,000 lump sum in recognition of the extended recruitment process. He also will receive a $450 monthly car allowance. Miyake qualifies for merit pay adjustments annually, following a performance evaluation by the council.
