Major congestion is expected on Interstates 5, 90 and 405 this Father’s Day weekend, June 17 through 20, as construction crews close down much of State Route 520, including the floating bridge.

To avoid delays, drivers heading to Mariners’ games and the Fremont Solstice Parade this weekend should plan ahead for heavy traffic and consider alternate routes. The express lane schedule will change on I-5 and I-90 to provide better access into downtown Seattle.

Crews will close all lanes on SR 520 from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday between Montlake Boulevard in Seattle and I-405 in Bellevue.

Night work is planned, and neighbors near the work zone are likely to hear construction noise.

All SR 520 ramps in the construction zone also will close starting at 9 p.m. Friday. In Bellevue, the 108th Avenue Northeast on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 will remain open.

SR 520 from I-5 to Montlake Boulevard will remain open to traffic.

Lanes on Bellevue Way Northeast near SR 520 will close temporarily early Sunday morning.

Crews plan a full weekend of work, including building a fish-passage culvert under the highway in Bellevue, removing a pedestrian bridge in Medina and building a temporary intersection at Bellevue Way Northeast.
