Conference to help families be ‘fit and active’

Bellevue’s first “Fit and Active Conference” will be held 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the South Bellevue Community Center, 14509 SE Newport Way.

The event features keynote speaker Jill Kintner, 2008 Olympics BMX bronze medalist and will offer more than 40 sample classes and interactive workshops for ages 6-99 on a wide variety of health and fitness topics. It includes special sessions for adults, some for youth only, and many for families to enjoy together. Session topics include:

Healthy Snacks and Meals for Families;

Walks and Bike Rides in Bellevue;

Exercises and Stretches for your Golf Game;

TaeKwon-Do;

Fencing;

Yoga;

Jr. Jazzercise;

Group Personal Training;

Belly Dancing;

Hip-Hop;

Spine Health for Kids;

Osteoporosis Risk Management;

The cost for the one day workshop is $13 for youth ages 6-17, $23 for adults ages 18 & up and includes all workshops, “giveaways” and lunch.

Participants are asked to come dressed in athletic attire and participation is limited to 300, so early registration is suggested.
