The Hearing Loss Association of Washington (HLA-WA) will host a one-day conference Aug. 13 at Bellevue College to educate the public about hearing loss and to address many of the common questions related to hearing loss.
Speakers will address the basics of hearing loss, the psychosocial impact of hearing loss, assistive technology, and the laws regarding hearing loss. In addition, there will be a panel discussion by users of hearing aids, cochlear implants and BAHAs. To enable everyone to understand the speakers, assisted listening devices and real-time captioning will be provided.
The event also will include resource information and products to examine and/or purchase such as captioned phones, FM systems, personal amplifiers and/or alerting devices. There will also be an opportunity to speak with persons who have dealt successfully with hearing loss. Cost for the program, which includes lunch, is $40 for the first person and $20 for each additional family member.
