Community council seeks writers for ballot proposition statements

Residents of East Bellevue will vote this fall on whether their community council will continue to exist.

As part of the process, the council is accepting applications from residents interested in helping formulate the statements that will appear in the voters’ pamphlet for and against the ballot measure.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must reside within the boundaries of the East Bellevue Community Municipal Corporation. See a map of the area covered by the community council. The East Bellevue Community Council has the authority to approve or disapprove of designated land use issues within its jurisdiction.

The “Statement For” and the “Statement Against” (in addition to a rebuttal of the opposing statement) will appear in the King County Local Voters’ Pamphlet to be published for the Nov. 3 general election.

To apply, people must complete a community service application. They can apply online.

Hard-copy forms may be obtained through the City Clerk’s Office or the Service First desk at Bellevue City Hall, as well as in the Bellevue Regional Library, the Lake Hills Library and Mini City Hall at Crossroads Bellevue Mall. People also may request that a form be faxed to them by calling 425.452.6466.
