Closures on I-405 in Bellevue and Lake Washington floating bridges coming this weekend

Late night drivers heading across Lake Washington and to Bellevue this weekend should plan ahead and give themselves extra time to reach their destination.

Late night drivers heading across Lake Washington and to Bellevue this weekend should plan ahead and give themselves extra time to reach their destination. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews are working tonight and Saturday night, on State Route 520 and Saturday night on I-405 and I-90.

SR 520

Crews will close eastbound SR 520 across Lake Washington overnight today to install tolling equipment. The road will be closed from Montlake Boulevard in Seattle to 92nd Avenue NE in Clyde Hill tonight and Saturday nights beginning at 11:59 p.m. both nights. The highway will reopen by 7 a.m. on Saturday morning and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

I-90

Crews will close westbound I-90 from the Mercer Island Lid to the Mount Baker Tunnel overnight on Saturday, Feb. 5, for fire suppression testing. During the closure, flammable materials are not allowed in either direction of I-90.

Westbound I-90 will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6.

Westbound traffic will be detoured to the reversible I-90 express lanes.

Drivers transporting flammable materials on westbound I-90 must exit at Island Crest Way (Exit 7) on Mercer Island. Eastbound drivers transporting flammable materials must exit at Rainier Avenue South (Exit 3) in Seattle.

I-405

On I-405 in Bellevue, crews will close lanes beginning late Saturday, Feb. 5 to remove a large sign bridge as part of the Bellevue Braids project.

Crews will close three lanes of northbound I-405 from SE Eighth Street to SR 520. The first lane will close at 11 p.m., the second lane will close at 1 a.m., and the third lane will close at 3 a.m. All lanes will re-open by 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6.

All on-ramps to northbound I-405 from SE Eighth Street to SR 520 will close at midnight Saturday and reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6.

Drivers also should plan for a 15-minute rolling slowdown on northbound I-405 in the Bellevue area starting at 3 a.m.

Saturday night crews will close one lane of southbound I -405 from SR 520 to NE Fourth Street from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6.
