The city on Wednesday announced the five police chief finalists who will be in Bellevue this week to meet with the public and city staff before a hiring decision is made.

The city on Wednesday announced the five police chief finalists who will be in Bellevue this week to meet with the public and city staff before a hiring decision is made.

Among the finalists is Bellevue Police Deputy Chief Jim Jolliffe, a 23-year veteran of the department who has been serving in his current position since 2010. Jolliffe hold a criminal justice degree from the American Military University.

Seattle Assistant Police Chief Nicholas Metz is the only other local finalist, having served with the SPD for 31 years. He has been assistant chief since 2001, and has a degree in law enforcement administration from City University.

Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Matthew Clark has 21 years of experience with his department, serving as assistant chief since 2012. Clark holds a Master of Public Administration and Human Services degree from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn.

Mitch McCann, police chief in Simi Valley, Calif., has more than 29 years of law enforcement experience, starting with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 1985 before transferring to the Beverly Hills Police Department in 1988. He has been chief of the Simi Valley Police Department since 2012. He holds a degree in business administration and Master of Public Administration degree from California State University-Northridge.

Austin Police Assistant Chief Raul Munguia has served in his role since 2010, joining the department in 1984 as a patrol officer. He oversees daily operations in a department of 2,300 law enforcement and support staff, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science from Mid-Western State University.

Police chief finalists will be available to the public 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Bellevue City Hall.
