Parents and children will have the opportunity to visit “Bethlehem Village” and experience the sights, sounds and events the day Jesus was born. The event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 17, is offered at First United Methodist Church of Bellevue.
Children will travel through the village with a tour group of new and old friends, led by two qualified adult tour guides. Throughout the course of the day they will chat with shopkeepers eager to teach them their craft and happy to talk about the exciting happenings. Magi will share what they know about constellations and the bright star they’ve been studying. Using hammers, saws and hand drills children will create their own miniature stable in the carpentry shop.
Playing hopscotch the way Roman Centurions played the game will help them to build up their strength, balance and flexibility. In the stable they will help tell the story of the baby born in a manger and the shepherds that visited.
Pre-registration is advised, as only the first 100 elementary school-age children will be accepted. Registration forms are available at www.fumcbellevue.org, or call the church office at 425-454-2059. Cost is $5 per child. Children should bring their own sack lunch. Snacks will be provided.
The church is located at 1934 108th Ave,, Bellevue.
