Catapalooza sets record with 166 feline adoptions

A record-setting 166 abandoned and orphaned animals were adopted this past weekend at the Seattle Humane Society during Catapalooza, a celebration of cats.

Cat loving families from around the region flocked to the fourth annual feline festival to visit with cats and kittens, to learn about feline behavior, and to play games and win prizes. Kitties ranging from two months to 14 years were placed into homes. Event attendees worked with personal “cat shoppers” and adoption counselors to find the perfect cat for their individual lifestyle.

Seven animal welfare groups joined the Humane Society for Catapalooza: Feral Care, Homeward Pet, King County Animal Control, MEOW, South County Cats, Purrfect Pals and Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue.

The event’s adoption numbers have grown every year.
