A Medina family living in the 900 block of 86th Avenue Northeast had a vehicle prowled around 2 a.m. Dec. 5. The homeowners woke to their garage door opening and upon going to investigate noticed the vehicle parked in the driveway had been prowled.
Suspect(s) had entered the vehicle through an unlocked door and rummaged through the glove box. The prowler(s) used the garage door opener to open the garage and then left the scene once they realized the homeowners had been awakened by the noise.
The residents told Medina Police they did not see anyone leaving their property. Nothing was reported stolen from the car.
Police then conducted an area check and located two suspicious vehicles in the 8300 block of Northeast Eighth Street.
One car contained a subject who was questioned extensively and then arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police located burglary tools on the suspect as well as in the vehicle.
The second vehicle was empty and it is believed the suspects(s) took off on foot when the police arrived at their location. Upon further investigation Medina Police discovered the abandoned car was actually a stolen vehicle from the 400 block of Upland Road. The owner was contacted and made aware that his/her vehicle had been stolen and recovered.
Redmond PD K-9 unit was called to the scene and a track was conducted. The K-9 unit was unsuccessful in attempting to locate any additional suspects. The Medina Police Department is continuing to investigate.
Medina Police say two more residents have reported vehicle prowls. A vehicle in the 8400 block of Ridge Road was ransacked and nothing was reported taken. An attempted vehicle prowl occurred around Northeast Sixth street, where the suspect(s) tried to pry the car door lock but was unsuccessful.
