A man has been hospitalized after crashing his car into a Lake Hills home Oct. 21, cracking a brick wall and pushing the homeowner’s car a dozen feet backwards.

The male driver — who has not been publicly identified at press time — is reported to have been traveling at a high rate of speed down Southeast 7th Street on Friday, according to residents who witnessed the crash.

“The first thing I heard was really loud exhaust, and then I saw a car going really fast. I thought it was just some kids, but then the car hit the curb and kept going. It didn’t look like there was any attempt to brake,” said neighbor Christian Saavedra.

The force of the crash pushed the homeowner’s minivan from its parked position in front of the garage backwards through the garage door. The driver’s green sedan hit the garage’s brick wall, bringing him to a stop.

No one was home at the residence in the 700 block of 167th Ave. SE at the time of the crash, according to police.

The driver may have been suffering a medical emergency in the moments prior to the collision, and it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor, according to police. According to witnesses at the scene, the driver reported that he had felt dizzy and had possibly fallen unconscious while driving. He was transported to the hospital.
