The Bellevue School Board and Bellevue PTSA Council are extending an invitation to the public to join the discussion on Washington State’s education funding system. The event is titled, “Let’s do something about state education funding”.

The public event will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 7 p.m at Sammamish High School Performing Arts Center.

The Basic Education Finance Joint Task Force will present a proposal to address the current status of Washington State’s education funding system. For the past year, the Task Force has been working on two important issues to BSD and the State: redefining basic public education to include all that our children need for success and developing an appropriate funding mechanism for our schools.

The task force committee was created by the state to study school funding and includes members Rep. Ross Hunter (D-48), Sen. Rodney Tom (D-48) and Rep. Skip Priest (R30). The task force will develop a report and bring it before the Legislature in December.

Following the presentation by the Task Force, questions will be answered from the Board and the audience. For event information or to submit questions in advance, contact Bellevue PTSA Council President Janet Suppes at janetpta@gmail.com or Legislative Chair Connie Gerlitz at dgerlitz2@comcast.net
