Brain Cancer Walk raises $250,000 for new research

The sun was shining on Saturday, May 30, as more than 1,500 people turned out for The Seattle Brain Cancer Walk on Mercer Island. The day-long event raised more than $250,000 for brain cancer research thanks to generous participants, donations, and volunteers.

Each year, 1,200 in the Pacific Northwest are diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. With limited treatment options and a life expectancy of only one to two years, brain cancer is a frightening disease to face for both the patient and their family.

The Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment (CABTT) at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute is bringing new hope to brain cancer patients and their families. Through groundbreaking research, personalized treatment plans and patient-centered care, CABTT is improving outcomes for patients today and working toward a cure for brain cancer.

In its inaugural year, the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk raised $120,000 for CABTT. This year brought in double the amount of donations. Every dollar raised through the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk supports CABTT’s commitment to brain cancer research and patient care.
