Bellevue TV magazine again a finalist for national awards

Bellevue Television’s “It’s Your City” program has been named a finalist for 2008 National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) Government Programming Awards.

Bellevue Television’s “It’s Your City” program has been named a finalist for 2008 National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) Government Programming Awards.

The show is a finalist in the “Magazine Format Series” category, a category the program has won for the past two years (in 2006 and 2007) and placed second in 2005.

A segment of “It’s Your City” featuring the city’s Voices of Diversity program also is a finalist in the “Profile of a City/County Department” category; and a police recruitment public service announcement produced by Bellevue Television is a finalist in the “Public Service Announcement” category.

“It’s Your City” is a monthly magazine show featuring city programs and services. The show is produced under the direction of Tim Waters, city communications director; John Burwell, executive producer; Robin Steel Haaseth, executive producer/host; David Bruckner, producer/director and editors David Richardson and David Christie.

The show airs several times each month on Bellevue Television (Channel 21), and can also be seen on the city’s website: www.bellevuewa.gov.

Bellevue TV is Bellevue’s government access cable channel, featuring City Council meetings, arts, cultural, educational and other information for residents, businesses and visitors of Bellevue. 

It also provides coverage of the Legislature, local community events and special programming on issues of importance to residents.

The channel is operated through a partnership of the city and Bellevue Community College, who share the costs of operating a state-of-the-art studio facility. Student crews provide staffing support, while gaining hands-on training.

NATOA issues government programming awards each year to recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. NATOA receives more than 1,000 entries representing more than 150 agencies throughout the United States and Canada.

The 2008 awards will be presented at the annual NATOA conference on Sept. 20, in Atlanta.
