A Bellevue teen was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Highland Drive Monday night that may have involved drugs or alcohol, according to police.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Aug. 8, a car carrying four teenagers between 16 and 18 years old was involved in a single vehicle rollover crash. Responding firefighters and police officers found one of the passengers seriously injured and trapped in the front seat. Crews used extraction equipment to free the passenger, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The three other occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, sustained minor injuries. Police interviewed the 18-year-old driver and the other passengers at the scene.

Investigators believe that speed and drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the results will be submitted to the King County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.
