Vicki Conrad is a woman with a passion for preserving the earth. As a teacher at Chestnut Hill Academy in Bellevue, she has set up a food scrap collection program, rallied the school to plant a new vegetable garden, and helped implement energy conservation measures that qualified Chestnut Hill Academy as a level two King County Green School.

Vicki’s drive and dedication to make a positive change in the community has inspired students to compost and recycle at home and educate others about the importance of caring for our environment. Now, because of her efforts, she will be honored by King County Executive Dow Constantine at the annual “Earth Heroes at School” ceremony.

“These stewards of the environment are our heroes – for conserving resources, protecting the environment, and spreading the word about sustainable practices,” said Constantine. “I am proud to recognize them for their hands-on commitment to the planet.”

Constantine presented awards to Earth Heroes on Thursday at Maplewood Greens, 4050 Maple Valley Hwy, Renton.

This year, the ceremony honored one student, three student groups, four school programs, eight teachers, and seven other school employees from throughout the county.
