The Bellevue Schools Foundation’s lecture series, “Education Connections,” will return for three lunch sessions at the Wilburton Instructional Service Center beginning March 20. The lectures will bring in guest speakers from the Bellevue School District to discuss elementary school STEM education, Advanced Placement participation and bilingual education.

The March 20 lecture on elementary “STEM” — science, technology, engineering and math — coursework will invite K-5 STEM Curriculum Developer Greg Bianchi to explain the early results of a pilot program in the district.

The April 17 lecture on Advanced Placement will bring in Board Member Chris Marks, Deputy Superintendent Eva Collins and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Sharon Kautz to discuss how the district achieved 91 percent participation in AP and why it benefits students.

The May 30 lecture on bilingual education will invite language curriculum developers Tina Ying Bogucharova and Paris Granville, as well as Bilingual Programs Supervisor Heidi LaMare. Also invited will be Sarah Soares, an instructor for the International Spanish Academy at Tillicum Middle School. The guests will discuss language education opportunities in the district.

The lectures will be held in the Rainier Room at Wilburton, located at 12241 Main St. Advance registration is requested by visiting bellevueschoolsfoundation.org or calling 425-456-4199.
