The Bellevue Police Department will participate with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of the first nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative. The city wants to collect people’s expired, unused, and unwanted medications, including prescription drugs. 

“Prescription drug abuse, accidental poisonings and overdoses are increasing at alarming rates,” said Bellevue Captain Steve Lynch, Special Investigations Commander. “Prescription medications are often times readily accessible in household medicine cabinets and end up in the wrong hands.”

The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at three locations throughout the city, will collect controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter medications. No identification will be required or requested. 

There will be a uniformed Police Officer available to assist participants.

Unused and unwanted medications will be collected at the following locations:

City Hall Bellevue Police Lobby, 450 110th Ave. NE

Crossroads Community Police Station, 1336 156th Ave. NE, next to Chipotle

Factoria Community Police Station, 3915 Factoria Blvd. SE, near Nordstrom Rack

Individuals are encouraged to remove identifying information from prescription labels.
