Four on the 4th

The Bellevue Downtown Association is again producing the BECU Bellevue Four on the 4th Dog Jog & Walk to benefit the Seattle Humane Society. Dogs, typically wearing patriotic costumes, will take a 2.5-mile walk from Ashwood Park through downtown and back starting at 9 a.m. Those planning to attend the fireworks show at Downtown Park Saturday night should note their canine companions will be restricted from staying in the park after 2 p.m.

Killarney Circle Parade

The annual Killarney Circle Fourth of July parade will kick off 11 a.m. Saturday at Southeast 23rd Street and 104th Place Southeast, but attendees should show up a half-hour early for a band performance. Attendees are encouraged to bring come decked out.

VFW picnic

The Veterans of Foreign War Post 2995 will hold its picnic/potluck around 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the 4330 148th Ave. N.E. Veterans, those still serving in the military and their families are invited to attend. The VFW is providing hamburgers and hotdogs, and encourages attendees to bring side dishes.

Downtown Park fireworks

The Bellevue Collection’s Bellevue Family 4th will run from 2-10:30 p.m. in Downtown Park, with the fireworks display launching at 10:05 p.m. About 50,000 people are expected to attend, so the city will be closing several streets in advance of the show. Eastbound Sixth Street will close at 6 p.m., between 100th Avenue Northeast and Bellevue Way. The following streets will close at 9:30 p.m.: Northeast Fourth, from 100th to Bellevue Way; Southbound 103rd Avenue Northeast, from Northeast Second to Main and 100th Avenue Northeast, from Northeast First to Fifth streets. Police officers and directional signs will be available to assist motorists in getting to the show.

Park festivities

The Bellevue Parks and Community Services’ Fun Zone in Downtown Park will feature live music, inflatables, wooden toy making and a lineup of popular entertainers like Spiderman, Captain America, Entertain Men Jugglers, Ronald McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. Mouse, Carbon Yeti. Those who come hungry will have 22 food vendors to choose from.
