Bellevue Mosque to hold open house Saturday

The Bellevue Mosque, also known as the Islamic Center of Eastside, will hold its annual open house and barbecue for the public from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at 14700 Main St. in Bellevue.

 

The Bellevue Mosque, also known as the Islamic Center of Eastside, will hold its annual open house and barbecue for the public from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at 14700 Main St. in Bellevue.

“Our open houses serve as valuable opportunities for people from different communities to get together and learn about each other,” said Ahmed Nadeem, a co-organizer of the open house and an Information technology consultant by profession. “It will especially useful for those not acquainted with local Muslims and Islamic beliefs and practices, but also to enjoy delicious barbecue and good conversation.”

The open house will feature separate, parallel programs for women and for men.

For those needing wheelchair access, the men’s prayer hall has is accessible through a wide ramp. The women’s prayer hall is on the second floor and can be accessed by stairs only, however accommodations can be made for women in the men’s prayer hall.

The Islamic Center of Eastside (ICOE), also known as the Bellevue Masjid (mosque), is the first permanent mosque established in the eastside of Seattle.
