A 28-year-old man is facing charges he attacked a woman in a restroom at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in April, slipping under the stall she was using and allegedly grabbing her for his own sexual gratification. He reportedly harassed several more women before his arrest on June 9.

According to an investigative report by Bellevue Police, Aqdas A. Hussain allegedly entered a women’s restroom in the Hyatt’s North Tower on April 26. When a 25-year-old woman entered an adjacent stall, Hussain reportedly slipped under the partition and grabbed her around her thigh. The startled woman then ran after Hussain as he exited the restroom, the report states, screaming and hitting him before he escaped the hotel.

Hotel security video footage was later used to identify Hussain as a suspect in the assault, but only after two more interactions with law enforcement at the Hyatt after more women reported being sexually harassed in May, the report states. Officers were dispatched to the Hyatt on May 18, when a woman at the Hyatt reported being sexually harassed by Hussain, who was issued a warning at the time. He was trespassed from the Hyatt on May 25, when several female customers reported Hussain “was being very sexually aggressive and harassing them.”

The alleged victim of the April 26 incident later identified Hussain in surveillance footage from that night. He was arrested on June 9 while at the Evergreen Hospital for injuries he sustained after becoming intoxicated and falling, according to the report. Hussain allegedly denied being sexually aggressive toward women when questioned by police, stating “all of the women approach him and that they ‘flirt’ with him,” the report states.

Hussain is charged in King County Superior Court with one count each of voyeurism and fourth-degree assault. He has prior convictions of second-degree criminal trespass in 2011 and 2012 and for fourth-degree assault, third-degree theft and patronizing a prostitute.
