Bellevue gets animated about preparedness

Residents can learn how to prepare for emergencies through a song from Bellevue’s Office of Emergency Management.

“Ways to Survive” is an animation featuring Liv & the Survivors, a Sasquatch family who prepare for and respond to various hazards that can occur in the Pacific Northwest. They also play together in a band, performing the title song, an original composition with a dance beat and sassy vocals from OEM staff member Inness Pryor.

The video was created as part of an effort to reach residents more through social media and less through neighborhood meetings.

“Our goal for public education at Bellevue OEM is to give citizens the information they need to be self-sufficient during a major disaster. We wanted to distribute that information through song and animation that informs citizens about preparedness while entertaining them too,” said Sophia Le, emergency management coordinator and project manager for the video. “We think the sound of the song is youthful, yet nostalgic to appeal to all age groups.”
