The Bellevue School District will gain a new alternative school next year.

Big Picture School will open for the 2011-2012 school year in partnership with the nationally-recognized Big Picture Learning Network, which is guided by five learning principles: personalization, adult-world connection, common intellectual mission, supportive partnerships, and shared leadership and responsibility.

Structured to educate, support, and guide students from middle school through high school graduation, Big Picture aims to build bridges across the grades that lead to college success. Enrollment is open to sixth and ninth graders, and each additional grade levels will be phased in each year.

The school will replace Robinswood Middle and High School which closed last year after losing accreditation.

6-7 p.m., Feb. 10 Lake Hills Clubhouse 15230 Lake Hills Blvd.

A Spanish interpreter will be available at the Jan. 31, Feb. 3 and 10 meetings.
