Bellevue Farmers Market adds Saturday operation

The Bellevue Farmers Market will add a Saturday operation June 6.

The market has operated the past five years on Thursdays from 3 -7 p.m. This year they are adding a Saturday market to the mix for weekend shoppers. Local beef and pork, shellfish, farmstead cheese, flower bouquets, artisan breads, handcrafted ciders, berries, fruit, organic produce, tuna, salmon, hazelnuts, and more will be offered.

The Saturday hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the former downtown Safeway store site, 410 Bellevue Way NE, across the street from Bellevue Square. The Thursday market opened May 14 in the new location. Kemper Development Company is providing the site free of charge.

A ceremony at 11 a.m. today will feature King County Councilmember Jane Hague, Bellevue Mayor Degginger, Bellevue City Councilmembers, and President Leslie Lloyd of the Bellevue Downtown Association. Pastor Scott Dudley of the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue will give the blessing.

There also will be live music by the Haggis Brothers and Face Painting for children.

Sales and attendance have been high at the first three Thursday markets with several farms experiencing record sales. Free parking is available on the site and across the street at Bellevue Square.

The market will operate Thursdays through Oct. 15 and on Saturdays through Nov. 21.
