For the twelfth time in 13 years, a team of Bellevue College (BC) mathematics students has finished in the national top 10 in the annual American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges’ Student Math League competition.

This year’s BC team finished seventh in the nation and first in the Northwest region, which includes Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

BC student Jonathan Hung, of Bellevue, tied for third place nationally and placed first in the Northwest region.

Teams from 181 two-year colleges across the U.S. took part in the national competition this year, including 12 from the Northwest Region.

In other individual results, David Kaplan, of Bellevue, placed fourth in the region; Olga Klimova, of Redmond, placed 8th; Dana Lau, of Bellevue, placed 9th, and Quan Lam, of Bellevue, tied for 12th.

More than 220 BC students participated in the competition’s two rounds of testing.
