Nearly 1,000 attendees contributed a record of more than $305,000 at Bellevue College’s annual “Become Exceptional” fundraising luncheon April 27 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. This was the college’s 12th annual fundraising event.

“We never cease to be amazed by the generosity of our community,” said Bellevue College Executive Director Gaynor Hills. “Today we were overwhelmed once again by the outpouring of support for the students and programs at Bellevue College. The donations ensure that funds are available to support the important work being accomplished through our institution. Our supporters are helping to change lives.”

The featured speaker was musician, author and philanthropist Peter Buffett, son of financier Warren Buffett. His own foundation supports education of adolescent girls around the world, who he described as an “undervalued asset.” He spoke about the importance of giving and also performed on piano, accompanied by a cellist.
