Bellevue Chamber of Commerce to host Sept. 15 debate between prosecutorial candidates

The debate will feature candidates Jim Ferrell and Lessa Manion.

The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce’s chamber lunch series is back, beginning with a debate between the King County prosecutor’s race candidates.

On Thursday, Sept. 15, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, prosecutorial candidates Leesa Manion and Jim Ferrell will debate at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue at 900 Bellevue Way NE. King 5 evening news anchor, Steve Soliz, will moderate the conversation.

After announcing his retirement in January, the race to replace Dan Satterberg as King County Prosecutor has ultimately boiled down to two candidates.

Leesa Manion: For the past 15 years Manion has served as Chief of Staff of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where she helped secure funding for the Crime Strategies “Shots Fired” Unit, added ten new victim advocate positions, and the like. She also serves on the Board of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, and the Korean Prosecutors Association.

Jim Ferrell: Ferrell is a former King County Senior Deputy Prosecutor and three term Mayor of Federal Way. Before taking over as mayor, he served as a felony prosecutor for 19 years. His stated priorities include restoring public safety, creating a Conviction Integrity Unit, and adjusting the Restorative Community Pathways program to ensure accountability.
