BBRC 5K run/walk this year to start, stop at Crossroads Park

Bellevue’s Crossroads area will be on the run Sunday, April 26 as the Bellevue 5K returns.

Registration is available online at http://www.bellevue5k.com/ or by phone/FAX at 206. 203.1880. Day of race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event at Crossroads Park. The 5K run begins at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K walk starting at 8:45 a.m.

The event, sponsored by the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club (BBRC), benefits the Kindering Center and other club projects.

Kindering provides individualized family-centered early intervention services for children who are disabled, medically fragile, or vulnerable because of abuse or neglect.

This is the third year in which the Bellevue 5K has been supported and organizers are expecting a turnout of 1000 participants. The flat, fast 3.1 mile course starts and finishes at Bellevue’s Crossroads Park. The route will move through surrounding East Bellevue neighborhoods, before turning back to finish at the park, located at Northeast Eighth Street and 164th Avenue Northeast.

A number of local companies are helping support the event, including Brooks Sports, Inc, Helly Hansen, Microsoft, Powell Development Corporation, Lingenbrink, PS, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, and the city of Bellevue.

“We are very pleased to be supporting the Bellevue 5K on its third anniversary, particularly as it helps encourage a healthy lifestyle and supports the important work of Kindering, as well as other local charities,” said David Bohan from Brooks Sports.

“It will be such a fun and healthy event,” said Mimi Siegel, Executive Director of Kindering. “Thank you, Bellevue Breakfast Rotary, for supporting Kindering so generously and calling attention to the importance of early intervention for infants and toddlers with special needs,” she added.

The BBRC membership is dedicated to “service above self” and welcomes all interested parties who want to participate, volunteer or donate money to the event to contact it directly via the club’s web: www.Bellevue5K.com.

“Without the support of our sponsors, the Bellevue 5K participants and those other volunteers who assist on the sidelines, we would not have been able to enjoy the success of this event over the last two years,” said BBRC president Jenny Andrews. “We are determined and excited to make the third annual Bellevue 5K our best event ever!”
