Bellevue Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a male who attempted to kidnap at woman at Crossroads Bellevue Mall.
The incident, at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, happened when an unknown male drove up to an 18-year-old female in the southeast corner of the mall located in the 15600 block of NE Eighth Street and told her to get in his car. When she backed away, he got out of his car, and attempted to grab and lift her, before noticing onlookers. The male jumped into his car and fled the area.
The victim, Bellevue resident, described the attacker as a Hispanic male in his late 30s to early 40s, standing roughly 5’8 with a medium build, with a short buzz-cut and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect drove what was described as a dark green “older model” Geo 4 door hatchback with a Washington license plate. The vehicle also had a large dent on the left side of the rear bumper.
The attached sketch was created by a Bellevue Police Department sketch artist. The picture of the vehicle is similar to the one involved in the incident today. If anyone recognizes this person, or was in the area at the time of the attempted kidnapping and witnessed it, they are asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
