Future looks bright for popular Redmond cannabis shop

Hashtag Cannabis preparing for move to large new site in downtown Redmond, café to be added

Coming together as a community has been more challenging in recent weeks, but it’s nice to know some plans are in place in King County to create a space where people can connect for mutual benefit.

The loyal clientele of Hashtag Cannabis in Redmond may have wondered what the future would hold for the neighborhood icon when it closed its retail store. But the good news is, plans are in the works to reopen in a new, much larger space in downtown Redmond, sometime in April.

“We are beyond excited to open our doors again,” says Hashtag co-owner Jerina Pillert. “Our incredibly talented team has been waiting patiently to get back to work bringing quality cannabis products and education to the canna-curious and cannasseurs in Redmond.”

Multiple venues planned for new location

Not only will the new Leary Way location offer an expanded product selection and roomier surroundings, the new 4,000-square-foot site will eventually feature a new element, Hashtag Supply Company. This all-ages café, expected to open sometime this summer, will offer a comfortable environment to relax, enjoy a coffee and purchase hemp-derived CBD products.

Café to host to outreach, education events

Once open, Hashtag Supply Company will also provide an ideal space for regular customers and the canna-curious to learn more about their options and the products available through Hashtag.

“The Guided Shopping for Seniors program has been a popular monthly education event at our flagship store in Seattle,” says Christine Cohen, marketing and creative director for Hashtag. “The new café will be a place where people can sit down with us over a coffee next to the store, in a low-key environment. We gear the content for people over 60, and we welcome anyone else with detailed questions that take time to answer. We want people to feel comfortable as we explain what cannabis is and help them figure out whether or not cannabis products might be a good idea for them.”

Dedicated, knowledgeable staff will return

If you cultivated a relationship with some of the knowledgeable team from Hashtag in Redmond, or are looking forward to investigating the potential benefits of cannabis, you’ll be glad to know that most of the staff laid off in January will be back once the new store opens, Jerina says.

“I am so in awe of the expertise and professionalism of our team,” she says. “Our staff don’t look down on folks who have never consumed; they’re excited to share the plant we love with someone for the first time.”

You can keep track of the development of the new store and café on the Hashtag Facebook page, on Twitter or on Instagram.
