Empowering seniors: discover your path at the Snohomish County Senior Resource Expo!

Learn, explore hear from speakers including ’Galloping Gourmet,’ Graham Kerr

As American television icon, Mister Rogers once said, “when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else.”

It’s true at all stages of life– including as we eye retirement.

It’s about recognizing the joy of life, building connections and finding new creative ways to get out of our comfort zone – why The Daily Herald is hosting its second annual Snohomish County Senior Resource Expo, an opportunity to connect with local organizations that support seniors.

“When you retire, you don’t have that work family, work friends and work life that you’re used to, so it’s time to find new connections. It’s also time to explore all those interests and passions you haven’t had time for!” says The Herald’s Expo Co-ordinator, Jacqueray Smith.

Coming to Everett’s Hotel Indigo Tuesday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Snohomish County Senior Resource Expo will feature more than 30 exhibitors, including:

  • AARP
  • Snohomish County Health Department
  • Community Transit
  • Homage
  • Family Resource Home Care
  • Longbridge Financial – Ruth Gillis
  • Fieldstone Memory Care
  • Smart Cremation
  • Skagit Historical Museum
  • Hospice of the Northwest
  • Sno-Isle Libraries

Also included in the mix this year is Graham Kerr, host of the classic cooking show, The Galloping Gourmet. While sharing tips and tricks for cooking when you’re older – this time around as a newlywed – Kerr has something unique planned, with a special topic dear to his heart: finding love again, later in life.

Helping bridge the gap for seniors seeking ways to re-establish social connections, the Senior Resource Expo isn’t only a social experience but a way for seniors to embrace life-long learning.

Guests will also enjoy a Speaker Series, featuring presentations from the Senior Centers Network Panel, United Health Care and Silver Age Senior Living Advisors.

Sponsors for the event include the Snohomish County Health Department, Homage and Community Transit.

“The expo is an opportunity for seniors and their families to engage and network in a way that is both informative and fun,” Smith says.
