The Eastside Symphony welcomes new concertmaster Linda Vogt for its new season.

Vogt attended studied under renowned violinist and teacher, Emanuel Zetlin and also studied voice in college at Seattle Pacific University. She was a professional singer and violinist for seven years, experimenting with jazz, country, and rock in the night clubs she performed in.

In addition to being the symphony’s new concertmaster, she’s a violinist with Philharmonia NW and Octava Chamber Orchestra.

Here are some important dates for the Eastside Symphony:

7:30 p.m., Oct. 22: Young Soloists Concert featuring Audrey Chen on cello playing the Dvorak Cello concerto in B minor.

3 p.m., Dec. 4: Holiday concert – An hour-long event featuring Santa Clause, an acapella group, the Baudboys from Microsoft, a sing-a-long.

7:30 p.m., March 17: Suites and Philosophies – composers McMichael, Copland, and Holst present an evening of American and English composers.

7:30 p.m., March 19: German Traditions – Beethoven Symphony No. 1, Brahms Hungarian Dances, and Strauss suite for Winds, along with Dukas’ showcase piece for solo horn, Villanelle.
