Medina moms design new clothing line for a stylish workout

When Nancy Cirillo and Laurie Barokas hit the gym, the Medina moms and co-owners of the new fitness clothing line NaLa Seattle, will do so in style.

Cirillo and Barokas have launched the NaLa Seattle collection, a line of woman’s fitness wear created to provide a stylish and spirited twist to the workout basics. The two collaborated to bring about NaLa Seattle. The concept for the clothing line came about from the hectic schedule of being a mom.

“Being a mother of three, I would often squeeze gym time between dropping them off, running errands, then picking them back up,” said Cirillo. “I hated walking around looking like I just got off the treadmill. The idea was to design a line that could be worn in a multitude of settings.”

The feminine-inspired line includes soft sustainable fabrics, comfortable fit, bright colors, and trendy designs including a short organic cotton skirt designed to wear over a pair of workout pants or booty shorts, according to Cirillo.

“As women, we want to feel strong, energetic and still stylish at the same time,” she said. “We shouldn’t have to sacrifice looking cute just to get a good workout.”

The NaLa Seattle collection premiered during a launch party held at Cirillo’s home Thursday. The clothing line will be available at a number of gyms around the area including the new David Barton Gym, the Seattle Club and Pro Sports Club.

“We love the way the NaLa line fits and looks,” said Medina residents’ Darcy Johnson and Anne Strecker. “You can tell these clothes were designed by women, for women.”

With the launch of NaLa Seattle, Cirillo and Barokas wanted to give back to the community by giving a portion of proceeds to Camp Korey in Carnation.

“Camp Korey is such a wonderful place and Laurie’s friendship with founder Tim Rose made this a perfect fit for our new company,” said Cirillo. “Our hope is to raise enough money to provide a week of camp for several kids next summer.”
