Lincoln Square Cinemas go 3D

While the rest of Bellevue slept, Lincoln Square Cinemas installed a new IMAX movie screen with REALD 3D. Equipped with polarized IMAX 3D glasses provided by the theater, the auditorium filled with moviegoers March 27 for the first showing of Monsters vs. Aliens, a 3D collaboration between IMAX Corporation and DreamWorks Animation.

“For the first time, people won’t have to drive across the bridge into Seattle to experience 3D,” said Sean O’Leary, the director of sales and marketing for Lincoln Square Cinemas. “This is top of the line in technology.”

The all-digital IMAX theatre will feature ground-breaking Hollywood blockbusters, educational screenings, and entertaining documentaries.

“What’s so great about this, is that it can be used for educational purposes and corporate event,” O’Leary explained. “It’s really ground breaking.”

In IMAX 3D, moviegoers are drawn into the film by the three-dimensional cinematic experience where the images virtually jump off of the screen and visually appear to float around the theatre.

“It’s really hard to describe the 3D experience to someone who has never seen it, but it completely shifts the way you watch the movie. You almost become part of the virtual reality. It’s surreal,” O’Leary said.
