David Barton brings his ‘Look Better Naked’ philosophy to new gym at The Bravern

The rock and roll personality and etched muscles of David Barton mirrors the high energy atmosphere of his new gym in Bellevue. The David Barton Gym officially opened its doors at The Shops at the Bravern this past weekend, bringing a new approach to exercise on the Eastside.

The gym’s slogan, Look Better Naked, captures Barton’s concept behind the trend-setting gym.

Results. Results. Results.

“The people who join my gym are high energy and want an intense workout,” said Barton, a former bodybuilder. “You workout here to see results.”

The East Coast-based gym is known for its A-list celebrity following including; Alex Rodriguez, Cindy Crawford, Will Smith, Uma Thurman and Jamie Fox.

The 40,000-square-foot facility in Bellevue consists of two levels including four large group-training rooms for spinning, group exercise, yoga and a full pilates studio. The gym also includes a large dedicated cardio area with state-of-the-art equipment and flat screen televisions, a separate free weight and strength training area, locker and steam rooms and a childcare room for members only.

More than 167 trainers applied for a chance to work at David Barton Gym, but only 15 made the cut.

The personal trainers on staff specialize in different areas of instruction and were put through a grueling interview process followed by extensive training by Barton himself.

“This gym is for people who love to workout,” said Barton. “People who workout here, young and old, are just a little bit cooler.”

The interior design of David Barton Gym is a mix of cutting edge and high energy with a dash of Northwest appeal. Gym-goers enter through oversized wooden doors into a large entry way, marked by mood lighting, oak floors and loud pounding tunes courtesy of live DJs. A full retail space is followed by a row of glass-encased membership offices. Long benches sit directly across from the front desk, leading into a spacious workout room with glass windows overlooking Bellevue.

“The Bravern is an amazing place and I am excited to open up one of my gyms here,” said Barton. “I think this area is ready for a change in pace.”

The Bellevue location of David Barton Gym marks the first to open on the West coast, with other locations in New York, Miami, and Chicago.
