Crossing the bridge: Seattle’s new social club

For the first time in over two decades, Seattle is unveiling a one-of-kind private social club. In a five-star lifestyle setting, Club Cielo will have clients crossing the bridge to indulge in the exclusive new meeting spot.

Club Cielo, located in the luxury Escala condo tower on Fourth and Virginia in downtown Seattle, opens in Fall 2009.

Between running ThysioSonics, a technology firm based in Bellevue and wearing the title of managing partner at B. Harlow & Associates, LLC in Kirkland, Brad Harlow is a busy man.

When he first heard about Club Cielo from his good friends and Founding Co-Chairs Ken and Cathi Hatch, he decided to get involved in the new social facility. Initially he was drawn to the idea of an exclusive club where he could go and relax, enjoy a five-star restaurant and entertain family, friends and clients all in one location.

“As an Eastsider, this is a chance to be a part of a facility where I can entertain clients in a high-end environment,” he explained. “The club has a broader scope than other clubs in the area and a higher estectic.”

Harlow now sits on the advisory board for Club Cielo, compiling ideas and input about what people might want to see in the new social club.

He sees Club Cielo as bringing a new kind of social and athletic club that caters to today’s urban professional.

Recently, the new club opened its doors for an exclusive preview party, attracting large a crowd of VIP guests. Wine poured freely courtesy of Dellile Cellars at the formal black tie affair.

The inspiration for Club Cielo was a mid-20th-century super club of sorts – a place where those “in the know” can find five-star indulgence.

“I think it will bring a higher level of service and sophistication and a higher value of people who expect the service that can be found in clubs in New York, San Francisco and Miami,” Harlow explained.

The new social club will encompass 25,000-square-feet, offering fine dining and wine at a restaurant featuring “New American” cuisine from one of Seattle’s most noted executive chefs and a private wine cellar with storage capacity of over 9,000 bottles.

Members also will have access to health and wellness amenities including a spa and full-service fitness center. Club Cielo will provide members with the opportunity to attend special functions, advance theater showings, rare wine tastings, organized trips and networking events.

It exceeded my expectation,” said Harlow. The fitness center and the restaurant are prime, he added.

Club Cielo is managed by Columbia Hospitality and is now excepting membership applications.
