Jazz enthusiasts are invited to attend two concerts in conjunction with the 28th annual Bellevue High School Jazz Festival.
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, in the Performing Arts Center, 10416 Wolverine Way, the middle- and junior-high bands that scored the best during daytime festival competition will perform for the public. Also performing will be the award-winning Bellevue High Jazz Band, along with the festival’s distinguished adjudicators: trumpeter Tim Libby, percussionist David Jarvis, pianist David Joyner and trombonist David Glenn. Cost is $7 per person.
At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, in the Performing Arts Center, top bands from the high school divisions will perform after their day of competition. Also performing will be the Pacific Lutheran University Jazz Ensemble, led by David Joyner. Cost is $10 per person.
The jazz festival, which features student musicians from throughout the Northwest, is the major way funds are raised to support the entire Bellevue High band program. Festival details can be found at this website.
