5th Avenue Theatre seeking children for plays

The 5th Avenue Theatre is seeking children for its production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which plays Oct. 10-Nov. 1 and White Christmas that plays Nov. 28-Dec. 30.

The theater company will hold general auditions for roles from 3-7 p.m. June 30 and 3-9 p.m. July 1. Boys and girls, between the ages of 8 and 13, should be able to sing and move well.All boys must have unchanged voices.

For the audition, children should 32 bars of a song.The total audition should last no more than 3 minutes.All auditioners must bring a photo and resumes (if available) or current contact information.Professional headshots are not required.A school photo is acceptable.Photos will not be returned.

Seattle Symphony Chorale to hold Summer Sings

The Seattle Symphony Chorale will hold its 29th Summer Sings season with three open choral reading sessions on select Monday nights in July. Summer Sings gives singers an opportunity to come together to sing choral masterpieces in an informal setting.

Each session is led by a prominent choral conductor from the Puget Sound region with piano or organ accompaniment. All sessions will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on stage in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall.

The season opens July 6 with Fauré’s Requiem led by Dennis Coleman, Artistic Director of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus. On July 13, Karen P. Thomas, Artistic Director of Seattle Pro Musica, will lead singers in Carl Orff’s Carmina burana. On July 27, Geoffrey Boers, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Washington, will lead the reading of Mozart’s Requiem.
