Stop summer homework

There should be no summer homework. It’s a nuisance to kids and parents.

For example, Sarah Bennett (co-author of the book “The Case against Homework”) thinks that homework is useless to help kids learn, and she said “Most studies have found little or no correlation between homework and achievement (meaning grades and test scores) in elementary school or middle school.” (http://stophomework.com/summer-homework/19).

Bennett also said that if your child can’t handle the work load “…give them permission not to read it and promise you’ll take it up with teachers or school administrators in the fall.” (http://stophomework.com/summer-homework/19). I think that this idea is reasonable for any busy kid.

All-in-all, I agree with her that summer homework is way too stressful for kids and that they should enjoy their vacation. Besides, isn’t the whole point of summer break is to get away from things like homework in the first place?
