Let’s use those rusty rails

There is much written about light rail and what it will do or won’t do for the Eastside commute when it arrives in 10 years.

A friend said he wishes he could ride from his Puyallup home to his place of work in Bellevue on a train. If railroad track adjacent to I 405 was now being used, even on a trial basis, he could board a Sounder Train in Puyallup which stops at Tukwilla and transfer to The Sounder Eastside Express going to Bellevue and other Eastside cities.

His commute often takes almost two hours each way, so he spends a lot of time looking at the rusting, unused railroad track through his car windows while stopped on I-405. He hopes he and others won’t have to wait 10 years to get a faster off highway commute on those unused rails.
